Back To Blogging & A Good Catch Up

I’m back from a small blogging break! It’s been a mixture of lots going on, as well as a bit of writers block. For the last few days I’ve been struggling with what to write about. So instead of talking about a certain topic, I thought I’d do a catch up post on what Lily and I have been doing lately! Beach Days Isn’t it so nice that the sun has been getting its hat on a bit more! We’ve spent a lovely few afternoons at the beach lately. Lily has a great time throwing stones in to the sea, […]

Birthday Party Tips For A Stress Free Day

Recently Lily turned 3 and I cannot believe how fast she is growing up! We threw her a small birthday party to celebrate and much to my relief it was a total success! Truth is though, I didn’t have to spend much time or effort planning it! That sounds awful, but I mean it in a good way. It was simple but effective, and stress free. In fact her birthday itself was great fun too, as we took a trip to the zoo with some of my family. With pre-school children I know some parents don’t go the whole hog with […]

Recently my life feels ultra manic. juggling work with Lily along with housework, cooking, family days out, it can get a bit crazy. Then there are the fun hacks or the hacks that can just make life as a parent run slightly smoother. For example I have my own mum hack about leaving my tea on the radiator in winter so it keeps it warmer longer! One that’s […]

3 year update: Lily’s Birthday Celebrations!

Today is Lily’s birthday! I can’t believe it was 3 years ago that our adventure in to parenting began. So much has changed in that time, not only has Lily changed so much from that tiny baby, but I’ve changed a lot too. The developments that happen to our children in the first few years is really astonishing. When I think back to that 7lb baby who couldn’t even smile or helps her head up, and now my big girl who never stops talking and running around! Speech and Language This time last year, Lily was saying odd words but […]

“Cherish Every Moment”: Is It Possible?

This may have something to do with the fact that I’ve been away from Lily all day and therefore also away from the stresses and strains of being around a toddler for hours on end. Along with the fact that I am so broody at the moment! But I was just tucking Lily in to bed and looking at her and had a little soppy moment. It feels like lately she is becoming so much more of a little girl rather than a baby. I know she’s not been a baby for a while now, we have had the full blast […]

20 Facts About Me!

You may have seen the #20FactsAboutMe Tag going round lately, I love it as so often we end up blogging about our family and others and we don’t speak much about ourselves. I have loved discovering more about the men and women behind the blogs!     I’ve been tagged by the fantastic Erica over at The Incidental Parent, she came up with a great list of facts so go over and have a read of hers as well! So, here goes my 20 Facts About Me: 1. I don’t drink caffeine, but I love coffee, so go for decaf […]

Dancing On Her Own! Lily’s First Solo Dance Class

I started Lily at a local dance school when she was just 18 months old. She was still rather wobbly on her chubby little legs, and she mainly just ran around in the opposite direction to everyone else, but she loved it. The dance routine was the same every week, in fact it’s still the same now. So the children get familiar with it, and despite them doing it every week it still brings big smiles to their faces. When I first walked in to dancing I didn’t really know what to expect. None of the other mum’s really spoke […]

#PassTheStoryOn with Tesco: The Everywhere Bear & The Highway Rat

Lily and I love reading together. It’s fantastic for children’s learning in so many ways: it stimulates their imagination; helps with their language skills; their concentration; and their listening. Not to mention the benefits of spending that quality time one on one with your child. A love of reading is definitely something I want to instil in Lily, as all too often books are forgotten about once children get into games consoles and TV. #PassTheStoryOn Recently Tesco gave myself, Sarah at Whimsical Mumblings, and Nicola At A Blog’s Life the opportunity to take part in a fantastic book share. They […]

The Ups and Downs of my Breastfeeding Rollercoaster

As I’ve spoken about in passing before, I breastfed Lily for 18 months. Once we got the hang of breastfeeding it was fantastic, but that wasn’t always the case. We got off to a very rocky start. I wrote about our breastfeeding journey for a feature on the lovely Kelly-Anne’s blog over at Mimi Rose and Me. Now I thought I would show you guys what I wrote, here is my breastfeeding story: Looking back on my breastfeeding journey, I know it sounds cliche but I can only liken it to a rollercoaster. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I […]
