Review: Petit-Fernand Personalised Labels

Lily is starting school this September! I cannot believe it’s that time already, but it is! With her being my only baby I haven’t done the whole getting prepared for school thing before, but one thing I know is really important is labelling clothes! At a recent meeting at the school they even suggested we label her socks! Therefore I was extremely pleased when the opportunity arose for me to review some personalised labels from Petit-Fernand.

The Design

The process of ordering from Petit-Fernand is really simple, the website is clear and very user friendly. I’m trying to get Lily really excited for the start of school, so it was great that she was able to help choose the labels for her new uniform. There are two types of clothing labels that you can choose from: Iron-on name labels or stick-on name labels. You can also choose value packs which include a combination of both plus item name labels and shoe labels!

Choosing the design was great fun for Lily (and me to be honest!). She was able to choose the colour, font, and picture (with a little encouragement from me to get a design I also wanted!). We chose two types, a pink design with ballet dancer for her dance uniform, and a cute blue design with cloud picture for her school uniform (which is blue as well). It’s very handy that you can include pictures on the labels as young children may not recognise their names but they will recognise the pictures.

Water Bottle

Not only do Petit-Fernand specialise in labels, you can also buy a personalised lunch box and a personalised water bottle. We went for the water bottle and Lily again enjoyed choosing the design, no surprises here she went for a princess design! There were so many to choose from though, all really pretty and with the added benefit of being personalised with the child’s name! The water bottle itself is very good quality it feels sturdy as well as looking nice. It’s isothermal which means it will keep hot drinks hot and cold cold drinks cold for longer. It holds 350ml of liquid, plus it has an anti-leak cap to stop spillages in the school bag! Of course it is BPA-free and phthalates-free too! Lily loves hers and it is definitely adding to that school excitement as she’s looking forward to when she can finally start to use it!

Stick-on Labels

But back to the labels, once we received them (along with some nice complimentary stickers- I have yet to meet a child who doesn’t like a sticker!) I was excited to try them out. The Stick-on labels could not be simpler, you peel them off the backing and then carefully apply them to the clothing item on the washing instruction tag or brand label, I chose Lily’s ballet cardigan as it’s not iron-friendly. Press firmly for a few seconds and then let the label rest for 24hrs before wearing or washing. After that the labels are fine for washing up to 60 degrees and even tumble dryer resistant! You could really use stick-on labels for all the clothing as it was certainly very simple and has had a great effect.

Iron-on Labels

Nevertheless I did want to try the iron-on labels as well. These are slightly more fiddly, but still very straight forward to work with. You peel the sticker off the backing again, this time you don’t need to stick to the washing machine label, you can stick it straight on to the clothing. I prefer this as I feel it looks smarter and you can notice the tag instantly when looking for it. Once in the position you’re happy with use the protective paper provided to cover the label. Next, place the iron when at a temperature of 200 degrees (linen/cotton mode) over the label and press firmly for 12 seconds without moving. This gave the feel of a much more secure label, but really both types were fantastic.

Shoe Labels

Shoe labels are something I wouldn’t have really thought about, but again are extremely handy. Lily has to have wellies at school so this is perfect for them. Much like the Stick-on clothing labels these are extremely easy to use, simply peel them off the backing and press firmly on the shoes. They are friction and sweat proof too!

Overall Opinion

The Petit-Fernand name labels look fantastic, they do the job well and they are fun to design. I really cannot fault these products and would certainly recommend them. The service was excellent as well with a speedy delivery and all items protected carefully inside their box. The perfect labels for parents with children about to go off to school, or who have yet again outgrown their uniform!

I was given a Petit-Fernand voucher for the purpose of this review, however as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
