What Did We Think?

We moved in to our family home over 2 years ago now. For the first couple of weeks Lily and I stayed at my Mum’s, so that Joe and my in-laws could decorate the new place without us having to live among paint and wallpaper. They got the upstairs done, but as Christmas was fast approaching we decided we wanted to move in, and would do the downstairs at a later date… that later date has still not come!

So when Hetty and Betty sent me these three beautiful pieces I was thrilled, as I’ve decided this year we will make the downstairs as pretty as the upstairs! I love little signs and feminine touches round the house so these are all 100% my style of decor.

Mother is another word for Love

The first item is this beautiful wooden “Mother” plaque. I always say that before I had Lily I never knew this lioness all-encompassing love. So I absolutely agree, Mother is another word for love. We have a similar sign that says “Family” already, so it really suits our style. My first thought when I saw it was what a fantastic present for Mother’s Day it would be. I would certainly be really happy with it as a gift. We’ve popped it on a wooden side table in our lounge and it looks great! Lily has already knocked it over a few times as she is a little hurricane at the moment, but it hasn’t broken or chipped at all, so it’s definitely good and family proof! I wasn’t 100% sure about the maroon colour but actually it’s grown on me.

Love you to the Moon and back

The next item is this cute little hanging photo frame. It’s wooden again (I do love a wooden accessory!) and has one of my favourite quotes “Love you to the moon and back”. I love that quote as one of our favourite books is “Guess How Much I Love You”, so it’s something me and Lily say to each other a lot. I haven’t put a photo in it yet but I want to pop one of me, Joe and Lily in there. It also has two options for how you want to present it- either hanging from the wire handle, or it has a magnet at the back so you can stick it to the fridge. We have a cupboard fridge and magnets don’t stick to it, so we’ll hang ours!

Finally, we have my favourite of the three pieces- the love heart sign. I just adore the quote they’ve used, it made me think of how I tuck Lily in to bed at night and give her a kiss, so I’ve hung it in her room. The worn wooden effect is really nice, it’s a feminine dainty little thing that looks lovely hung up. The wording is very small and if you’re short sighted like me you have to go right up to it to read it, but it still looks beautiful from far away.

Any Problems?

I would usually say some constructive criticism when reviewing items but I really don’t have anything bad to say about these pieces. They are beautiful and would all make perfect gifts, be it for Mother’s Day or any occasion. I feel like just having a couple of pieces like this around the home can really brighten up a room and make it so much more “Pinterest worthy!”

  1. We have so much that we haven’t done to our house since we moved in and I’m talking really simple stuff like changing the loo seat. Once the baby came (over a year ago) priorities changed. It’s great to get something which gives you the motivation.

  2. Home decor is one of my favourite things to read about! Before I had my girl I use to spend so much buying bits and pieces in homesense but I have cut right back and miss it so much!
